About Us | Enactus NUST

Our History

Established as a hub for student-led social entrepreneurship at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Enactus NUST has spent years transforming local communities through sustainable business innovations. Working under the national guidance of the BOOST Fellowship, the club challenges students across various faculties to apply their academic knowledge to real-world socio-economic and environmental issues. From early innovations like smart gas-monitoring devices to the "VendorsHub" platform created to sustain local farmers and traders during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, Enactus NUST has consistently developed scalable solutions that champion financial inclusion, community empowerment, and technological growth.

In recent years, the club has elevated its impact from local triumph to global dominance, solidifying its place on the international stage. A defining moment in Enactus NUST history came at the 2024 Enactus World Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan, where the team was crowned World Champions in the Early Stage Competition with their groundbreaking project, "IThemba." This waste-to-energy initiative tackles the plastic crisis by utilizing pyrolysis (converting plastic waste into clean diesel fuel). Building on this momentum, the team secured second place in the prestigious 2025 Action With Africa Challenge hosted by Enactus Germany, winning vital funding to scale up their operations. Today, Enactus NUST stands as a beacon of university excellence, proof that relentless determination can turn local environmental challenges into globally recognized, life-changing enterprises.
